Senior Project Accountant

St Helens (50% Home working and 50% Hybrid working)

 

James Fisher Marine Services (JFMS) have an opportunity for a Qualified Senior Project Accountant to be accountable for monitoring the progress of projects, looking into variances, approving outgoing inclusive of expenses, and ensuring that project billings are issued to clients and payments collected.

 

This is a senior position to add value and be a key player in the team as well as exposure to non-finance personnel. With responsibility for the JFMS project accounting, control and reporting across the business you will support Project Managers & Divisional directors across multiple locations, assisting with the full project cycle from pricing and tendering through to contract negotiation, budget setting, costing, setting KPIs and reporting to invoicing and closure. Working collaboratively with your commercial business partners to provide valuable commercial insight.

 

The key responsibilities will be:

 

  • Manage the project costing system/project structure and coding within Sage
  • Implementing new control procedures to manage cost allocation and cost reporting
  • Assisting with pricing and contract negotiation, review of ‘As sold model’, margins and review/assist on the understanding of the cash flow
  • Development financial reporting to track profit performance and identify risks and issues
  • Preparation of Budget financial information with key stakeholders
  • Recommend improvements in control processes
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Assist with monthly flash figures for Sales and forecasted profitability
  • Ensure sales invoices in a timely manner in accordance with the project milestones
  • Review the Monthly calculations of Accrued Income and cost accruals from the projects
  • Preparation of Qtly forecasts/Budgets to include revenue, profit & cash flow targets with Project Manager and Division Directors,
  • Report to Management on any opportunities for additional billings
  • Liaise with Project Managers to ensure all project expenses billed to client
  • Escalate and obtain approval for any project billings that cannot be billed or collected from customers
  • Liaise and support credit control with unpaid invoices
  • Close out Project accounts upon project completion, prepare close off financials for final project review
  • Compile information for internal/external auditors

 

You will be a fully qualified Project Accountant with people management experience, able to work from our Offices in St Helens (50% Home 50% Office) and the ability to work in a changing and flexible organisation. You will have experience managing large scale projects, have excellent communication skills, attention to detail and strong IT skills including experience in using Microsoft Office. Manufacturing experience is advantageous
