We currently have an exciting vacancy for a People Administrator to join our People Team. Reporting to the Deputy People Manager you will be responsible for providing excellent and professional administrative support to the team.

We are looking for someone that is passionate about administration and takes pride in their work, providing accurate, consistent and timely information within a fast paced and exciting team.

Working in the People Team at Chester Zoo, will give you the opportunity to be involved in a variety of administrative tasks across the team, such as obtaining references, inputting and extracting data, running reports, supporting the recruitment process, overseeing the People Team email inbox and preparing new starter paperwork amongst many other tasks.

You will enjoy the excitement of meeting new people, be a confident communicator, and demonstrate a genuine passion for administration within a HR environment. You will also be passionate about delivering a professional and confident administrative service to the People Team and in turn our employees.

The role:

- To be responsible for key administrative tasks within the People team

- To input and extract accurate and timely data from our People System (SDWorx), Personal Development System and trackers, providing scheduled and ad hoc reports to the People Team

- To produce and maintain accurate, confidential employee file records, both electronic and hard copy, in line with GDPR, archiving files and keeping all files up to date

- To support the maintenance and development of administrative systems and processes

- To manage employment reference requests

- To manage our department email inbox, providing timely responses to all general queries

- To support the recruitment process; which includes creating interview packs, inviting candidates to interviews and assessment days and creating new starter packs.

- To provide general administrative support to the team with tasks such as raising Purchase Orders, room bookings and producing presentation slides


The successful candidate will have:

- a level 3 CIPD Qualification would be advantageous, or similar experience

- excellent accuracy and attention to detail

- experience of providing high quality administrative support within a People/Human Resources environment

- the ability to work proactively with excellent organisational and communication skills to suit a fast paced exciting team

- the ability to think innovatively, sharing ideas that support continuous improvement and the streamlining of processes

- the ability to prioritise their own workload and work to deadlines

- the ability to work in a confidential environment, dealing with sensitive data

The hours of work are 40 hours per week, worked Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break.
