We currently have an exciting vacancy for a Director of People and Culture who will work closely with Senior Management to create a positive, productive and engaging workplace in an effective, growing and diligent zoo. The Director will work to design and implement a Human Resources strategy that is aligned with the zoo’s strategic development plan and its strategic objectives.
The Role:
The Director of People and Culture, as a member of the Operational Board, will lead Chester Zoo in its efforts to achieve excellence and innovation in the delivery of Human Resources. The Director will provide strategic direction on Recruitment and Talent Management, Training and Performance Management, and Reward and Recognition. You will ensure that the zoo operates in a high-performance culture and lives up to its values of:

The successful candidate will have:
- CIPD qualification.
- Knowledge of workforce legislation and best practice and understanding of organisational development concepts and practices relating to culture, change management, reward, employee relations, performance management, behavioural competency, and talent acquisition.
- Demonstrated experience of leading a HR function in a business undergoing significant growth.
- Demonstrated experience of leading a HR function in a business that operates with a significant number of fixed term employees in order to meet seasonal requirements.
- Demonstrated experience of delivering large scale cultural change.
- Experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives within medium to long time frames
- Experience working in Hospitality, Leisure Attraction or Service Sector industries.
Hours of work are 40 hours per week 5 days out of 7. A competitive salary and benefits package are on offer.
