Transport for the North, is looking to recruit a Democratic Services Officer:

The ideal candidate will organise and service effective meetings for Transport for the North (TfN), providing comprehensive guidance, support and advice in connection with matters relating to the administration, management and operation of TfN’s formal decision making-structures.

In addition, the successful candidate will utilise their technical knowledge in the democratic services area to resolve procedural queries from across TfN, and expected to provide advice on a range of specialist policies, procedures and governance arrangements. 

What we’re looking for: 

The ideal candidate will be able to possess demonstrable experience of local government democratic services functions and services, with local government legislation and best practice including FOI and Data Protection. 

Dexterity, attention to detail and the ability to organise, is an essential part of this role, these competencies will support the ideal candidate’s ability to take formal meeting minutes, develop briefing notes and formal reports, along with the provision of an advisory service to members and officers.

Similarly, experience of developing, implementing and monitoring policies, procedures, work programmes and action plans, with a political awareness and the ability to handle with tact and diplomacy, the sensitive relationships between members, officers, elected representatives and members of the public is a key attribute to success in this role.
