Object Conservator

This role is primarily based at our Collections Centre in Kidbrooke, Prince Phillip Maritime Collections Centre (PPMCC).

The post-holder will undertake conservation treatment/research with a primary focus on caring for the museums 3D object collection. Some key responsibilities are Undertake all treatments in line with Conservation Standards and code of ethics, using appropriate materials and appropriate techniques, Provide advice and undertake routine collections care duties of objects on open display and in stores; make bespoke storage and display solutions for museum objects Participate in the safe management and awareness of hazards within the collections, complying with current H&S regulations and safe working practices and Maintain accurate records and documentation using the Museum's electronic collections management database (currently Mimsy XG). The successful candidate with have a recognised professional qualification in the conservation of objects, an understanding of both organic and inorganic materials, knowledge of materials science as well as Awareness of COSHH and Health & Safety issues at the workplace. Key skills we are looking for include effective communication, planning and prioritisation and database/computer proficient. The full Person Specification is attached above.

Net working hours are 21 per week, working 3 days between the hours of 08.00-16.00. This role is permanent.

Salary: £16,137 per annum, which is pro rata £27,663.
