rhubarb is expanding its family at the iconic Royal Albert Hall.

Since January 2011, rhubarb have been at the Royal Albert Hall providing all food and drink at one of the world’s most iconic venues. The Royal Albert Hall operation consists of 6 dining spaces: Verdi Italian Kitchen, Coda Restaurant, Elgar Bar & Grill, Cloudy Bay Seafood Bar, Berry Brothers Wine Bar, 14 bars, 1 retail outlet, 147 hospitality boxes and offers seated dinners for up to 2000 guests on a special raised floor in the auditorium

There is now an exciting opportunity to join the ever-growing, dynamic team at the Royal Albert Hall and be a part of the story rhubarb is writing.

We are recruiting a self motivated Sous Chef, who is ready for a new professional challenge in this bespoke Premium environment.

You will be based in Elgar Grill, serving a refined British menu for up to 120 covers per service. Our menu is centred around our Josper grill – previous experience of which would be a great advantage!

Job Role

  • As Sous Chef you will be working closely with the Head Chef and senior management to ensure consistency of producing bespoke menus, dishes as per our customer needs.
  • You will be responsible for the food ordering and compiling off all invoices and stock rotation in alignment to internal SOP procedures.
  • You will ensure the on going training and support to junior kitchen staff by counselling and supporting them throughout their professional development.
  • You are responsible for maintaining good food hygiene practices and due diligence as designated by legislation and the companies’ specification to include all HACCP recording and documentation.

Candidate Profile

  • The ideal Sous Chef will have gained previous working knowledge within a similar multi unit, fast paced, high end hotel/ hospitality/ retail or catering environment which is a close fit with rhubarb’s values
  • Being an inspirational leader, you will be able to motivate and communicate at all levels and commit to sharing your knowledge and skills within our service and kitchen teams
  • You will have very strong people management and communication skills with the ability to lead a team
  • You are preferably certified in F&S level 3, H&S level 2 and have budget and report writing skills to an intermediate level
  • Possess a sense of urgency, can do attitude with a focus on continuous improvement
  • be certified in H&S level 2 and Food Safety level 2 and possess MS office knowledge
