Job Role:                    Caretaker 
Based at:                    The Orion Primary School
Responsible to:          Lead Caretaker / Business Manager
Working pattern:        Full time all year round
                                     Permanent position
Hours:                         7 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Start and finish time: 11am to 7 pm with breaks, or 12pm to 8pm (for lettings) 
                                    Some weekend working 
Salary:                        Grade D £23,817 to £25,128 (actual)
                                    Overtime available for weekend working

We are looking for an exceptional and friendly Caretaker with a hands-on flexible approach and a can-do attitude to keep our busy school in North London well maintained and secure

The Orion is a large four form entry primary school with around 1,000 pupils and we are now well established in our state of the art new school. We have a wonderful staff team, and together, pupils and staff make this school a fantastic place to work. 

We are looking for a caretaker with a range of maintenance skills to join our caretaking team.  The successful candidate will be presentable, take pride in your work and in your place of work, and you will build a good working relationship with staff and contractors. You may have previous experience as a caretaker or similar and if you are used to the school environment that would be welcome too.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• With the team, to provide an efficient caretaking service for the school including the maintenance and security of the school premises and site
• To promote a safe working environment for pupils and staff
• To supervise evening and weekend lettings and ensure the building and grounds are secured afterwards

Ideally, the candidate would have:

• A warm, friendly manner
• A range of maintenance skills 
• Good problem solving skills 
• Previous caretaking experience 
• Familiarity with a school environment
• An ability to work pro-actively both independently, and as part of a team
• A sense of humour!
