Hours: 18 or 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year (1 Full Time and 1 Part Time vacancy)

Salary: Up to £26,040 per annum (Dependent on experience)

 

IN SHORT

Milton Keynes College have a new vacancy for a Full Time and a Part Time Learning and Development Adviser to join the education team based at HMP Fosse Way. The part time role is 18 hours per week – working pattern/days can be discussed with the successful candidate. The full time role is working Mon-Fri 8.10 – 16.40 each day. Both roles are 100% working on site at the prison.

 

The Learning and Development Advisers will act as an advocate for prisoners. Providing initial and focused information, advice and guidance in an impartial manner, on all opportunities available to them, within HMP Fosse Way and beyond the gate into the community. You will support prisoners to develop and review their employment and personal goals, throughout their learning, skills and work journey.

 

As a Learning and Development Adviser, you will be responsible for supporting prisoners to ensure they have a structured pathway of education, training and employment, during their stay in custody. Effectively managing prisoner caseloads to support prisoners to achieve their sustainable employment, training and continued education goals upon release. Contributing to prison employment outcomes and reducing the risk of re-offending.

 

The support you provide will reflect on individuals needs and circumstances, through individual one to one discussions and group activities. You will have the ability to inspire, motivate and build a rapport with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, in a non-judgmental manner. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, to effectively work collaboratively with our key prison partners to support individuals through the induction process and throughout their sentence, coaching, mentoring and assisting individuals in their rehabilitative journey.

 

The role is exciting and varied, with a progression pathway to develop professionally and progress into a career’s guidance position, following the successful completion of an Information, Advice and Guidance qualification at Level 4. This could be the ideal starting point for an individual who wants to progress in the education and careers field.

ABOUT HMP FOSSE WAY

HMP Fosse Way is a brand new, purpose built Resettlement Prison based in the Glen Parva area of Leicester. The prison will be operated by Serco with Milton Keynes College as their strategic education provider. Following the prison opening in Spring we are recruiting for talented and creative professionals to join the new Education team based in the prison.  We have vacancies for daytime, evenings, and weekends positions though the majority of Education will be delivered Mon-Fri between 8:10-16:40.

Due to HMP Fosse Way being brand new, education staff will benefit from working in a new prison with up to date facilities, new resources and equipment.
