Fixed-term contract for 6 months (16 September 2017-16 March 2018)

Part time: 4 days per week (29 hours per week)

We are seeking an accomplished scholar with extensive knowledge of the history of collections to join and co-lead a small team of both international and V&A internal researchers on ‘Opening the Cabinet of Curiosities,’ one of a portfolio of significant projects of the V&A Research Institute, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. 

The postholder will be expected to forward the research investigation utilizing the Museum’s collections, history and expertise and will co-lead research communication amongst a range of internal V&A departments, such as Collections, Exhibitions, Learning and Digital Media, as well as working closely with a yet-to-be commissioned contemporary artist and other key stakeholders.

The postholder will also work closely with project staff of VARI in advancing VARI’s overall goals and development, and be based in the Research Department/VARI.

Please note that we will also consider a secondment opportunity from an external research institution
