Background

London & Partners is the official promotional company for London. We promote London and attract businesses, events, congresses, students and visitors to the capital. Our aims are to build London’s international reputation and to attract investment and visitor spend, which create jobs and growth.

It is our privilege to promote London around the world, working in partnership with the Greater London Authority (GLA), international organisations, professional services firms, destination marketing organisations, the London boroughs and many other key stakeholders, as well as our 1,000-plus private sector partners.

Our target audiences are leisure and business tourists, the travel trade, event organisers, overseas businesses and investors, and prospective higher education students. Our marketing and promotional activities are designed to encourage visits, investments and spend in London now, as well as building London’s reputation to support its long term success. Our mission is to tell London's story brilliantly.

The opportunity

This role involves driving commerical projects from inception to fruition, including negotiation, contract development, internal buy-in, resource allocation and research, with the purpose of generating maximum value. These transactions should also help drive London & Partners’ primary goals and mission to promote London to our target markets of tourism, students, major events and overseas businesses.

London & Partners plans to significantly raise its private sector income through strategic alliances, partnerships and projects. This role is essential in order to support the commercial function and deliver financial results.

Key tasks

  • Delivering commercial projects through coordination of multiple stakeholders, product development and being client led
  • Performing commercial project viability assessments, related due diligence and prioritisation of high-value projects/initiatives
  • Refining and enhancing the London & Partners paid for services proposition and develop go to market plans across agreed sectors
  • Managing the pipeline of new project-related/service delivery corporate and strategic relationships across the business

Person Specification

The successful candidate will demonstrate:-

  • Ability to navigate and influence stakeholders amidst complexity and competing agendas and galvanise them towards a common goal. High emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to negotiate and execute commercial deals that drive revenue for L&P and balance the need to also create jobs and economic growth.
  • Ability to work cross matrix within L&P to implement this activity.
  • Ability to write and structure arguments coherently

Knowledge and Experience

  • A proven track record of developing and managing complex projects
  • Excellent commercial, business development and presentation skills
  • Demonstrable success of managing large and complex transactions
  • Working and liaising with Executive teams and Boards
  • Experience of public and private organisations and how they interact
  • Demonstrable results of achieved revenue and profit
  • A background in consulting
  • Strong financial understanding
