If successful you will form part of our Health and Safety team, managing our health and safety procedures and legal compliance across our 3 racecourses, our in-house bars and restaurants, our hotel, our catering company Horseradish and our staffing agency Thyme People. We are so much more than “just a racecourse” which means any one day is never the same.

The successful Health and Safety Manager will have the following duties:

  • Preparing health and safety strategies and developing internal policy.
  • Creation and implementation of SOPs
  • Carry out regular site inspections to check that health & safety policies and procedures are being properly implemented. Keep records of the findings and produce reports that suggest improvements;
  • Manage compliance of suppliers and contractors
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, implement any corrective and preventative actions required and keep accurate records
  • Complete training needs analysis and implement personal development plans in line with compliance
  • Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture in the workplace;
  • Help to ensure all race day staff understand how the company policies relate to their role and the performance of their duties and provide suitable training, instruction, supervision, and guidance

The successful Health and Safety Manager will have the following experience:

  • At least 5 years experience in a H&S management role
  • Experience within large volume operations and management of multiple venues
  • In depth knowledge of current H&S legislation
  • Experience and knowledge of implementation of safe working practices and risk assessments
  • CMIOSH status
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) desirable but not essential
  • Confidence in dealing effectively and in an organised manor in pressured situations.
  • A driving licence and be willing to undertake infrequent business travel

 

Hours of work:

08:30-17:00 Mon to Fri as standard however evening and weekend working will be required around the race day calendar and large events
