James Fisher Mimic, (JFM) established more than 30 years ago, is a world leader in providing tailored condition monitoring, vessel performance and machinery efficiency monitoring software solutions. Our Mimic Condition Monitoring technology is widely used onboard commercial, cruise and military vessels around the world, our technology offerings are continuously evolving and a new version of the software recently released.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager / Account Manager with a focus on the Cruise sector to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.

We will look to you to target new strategic accounts, engage with existing clients to demonstrate unique and compelling added value to secure revenue growth and secure long-term revenue contracts through direct engagement, from lead identification to contract signing and subsequent renewals.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of consultative and / or strategic selling, either into the Marine sector, preferably Cruise, or of condition monitoring products and services into non-Marine sectors.

 Key Accountabilities

  • Creation of sales plans for strategic accounts
  • Develop and manage sales pipeline
  • Direct Sales and revenue generation
  • Understand customers’ needs and provide feedback to product development
  • Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of the value proposition for different marine sectors
  • Responsible for managing sales activities
  • Identify, qualify new prospects
  • Engage with qualified prospects through direct meetings and continuous dialogue to create positive long-term partnerships
  • Manage the entire sales process through to close
  • Maintain and develop customer relationships
  • Proactively identify sales and strategic growth opportunities
  • Ensure requests are responded to in a timely and professional manner
  • Contribute with new creative ideas for marketing, sales documentation, presentations and to R&D
  • Attend weekly and/or monthly team meetings with sales team
  • Responsible for ensuring CRM and other sales applications are updated and fully utilised
  • Communicate with peers and report to General Manager on a regular basis
  • Attend conferences and exhibitions as directed
  • Form a consultative sales strategy for each opportunity / customer
  • Attend the Manchester office as / when required

Qualifications and Experience

 We are looking for a driven individual with strong commercial acumen and a desire to succeed. You must be educated to degree level or hold equivalent experience in business development or account management and take a consultative, solution selling approach to working with your clients. You must also have experience in selling software products, preferably within the shipping industry or  have experience in selling condition monitoring solutions and services.

We’re especially keen to hear from you if you have a keen mind and the ability to extract and understand clients needs. You should be interpersonal, engaging, able to negotiate effectively and close deals. Due to the nature of this role, you will need a driving licence to travel to some client sites and there may also be requirement to travel internationally.
