Global Safety and Security Specialist

International Service – UK

Salary range :£26,971 - £33,195 + benefits

Tenure: Fixed term until November 2018 with possible extension. Start date is ASAP

International Service empowers women, children and young people, and disabled people to access their rights and create positive, sustainable change. We currently work in West, East and Southern Africa and the occupied Palestinian territories.

We strengthen the skills and knowledge of local organisations – increasing the impact and reach of their work and their ability to advocate for positive, sustainable change.

As part of a consortium of organisations we deliver the International Citizen Service (ICS) a youth volunteering programme which creates active global citizens and contributes to sustainable development impact across the world.

We have a fantastic vacancy for someone to join our Programmes team in York to facilitate the effective and continual development and delivery of all aspects of health and safety, security and safeguarding across International Service globally.

We are looking for a security professional with experience in an international/ humanitarian setting and at least three years’ experience in working in the field of security.

Key areas of work will include:

  • To co-ordinate the development, continual review and implementation of policies and procedures relating to security, health and safety and safeguarding across International Service globally in conjunction with the Head of International Programmes
  • To develop, deliver, and continually review and update all training related to security, health and safety and safeguarding in conjunction with the Training Officer
  • To provide information and support to International Service staff, volunteers and partners
  • To ensure that safeguarding is inherent in all International Service practice globally
  • To ensure International Service meets relevant health and safety requirements globally
