MK College Group at HMP Elmley are recruiting for innovative Maths Specialist Tutor to deliver pre-entry level, up to level 2 Functional Skills Classes.

This is an exciting opportunity where you will be actively engaging prison-based learners with creative classes and resources. Many of the learners have a diverse range of needs and learning abilities, they will often have had a negative experience with education. As a successful Maths Teacher, you will truly inspire them and provide learners with a positive learning experience.

This role will involve outreach work outside of the main classroom setting. You will also be working with learners on a 1:1 basis in the wings, workshops and other areas of the prison. The Outreach work involves connecting with learners in a professional manner, supporting them with their learning, enabling them to feel more secure within education and encouraging them to return to a classroom setting.

We are seeking an individual who can communicate well with learners to inspire and motivate them. The average class consist of 8 learners and the sessions are approximately 3 hours long. The 1:1 sessions are approximately 30 mins. Your lessons will need to be adaptable, innovative and imaginative.
