Great Yarmouth Charter Academy is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and responsible higher level teaching assistant with a focus on Numeracy to support our pupils across the school. This role will involve supporting a small group of pupils who are struggling to access mainstream curriculum and supporting the teacher in delivering a modified support curriculum for them.
The successful candidate will have the ability to prioritise and work consistently using their own initiative, high levels of resilience and good humour, and clear and sensitive communication skills.
You will be part of a team with an unconditional positive regard for young people. We believe that all students should be able to achieve the best outcomes, regardless of their backgrounds, and that this happens through high standards of support, teaching, and wider provision. You will share this view and understand the importance of this, alongside supporting our high expectations for all.
Charter was rated as good by Ofsted in July 2019. They stated that there are high expectations of behaviour which leads to a calm, purposeful learning environment. Charter is a team effort between staff and pupils where we all work together therefore, encouraging good staff retention and wellbeing. Over the last two rounds of pupil admissions at year 7 we are now oversubscribed with first choice pupils. Our job adverts are linked to this growth and our desire to support pupils from our community, as well as the introduction of our own sixth form that will work with the outstanding Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form in Norwich.
We are part of the Inspiration Trust, twice ranked as the country’s top family of comprehensive schools for pupil progress, and strongly believe in the importance of giving the widest educational opportunities to all young people, regardless of their background. We have strong networks across the Trust, with opportunities to work with a diverse range of schools and partners. We are committed to offering excellent professional and learning opportunities for our staff, with a busy programme of continuing professional development courses delivered by some of the country’s best educational thinkers and practitioners.
