As the world’s leading museum of art, design and performance, the V&A enriches people’s lives by promoting the practice of design and increasing knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of the designed world. The V&A family of sites includes the museum at South Kensington, Young V&A at Bethnal Green, (opening Summer 2023) and two sister sites under construction in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, V&A Storehouse and V&A East Museum. We invite everyone to enjoy the power of creativity.

The Development Department is critical in enabling the V&A to realise its ambitions through raising funds for this expansion, as well as FuturePlan, the V&A’s extensive programme of capital redevelopment, alongside support for acquisitions, exhibitions, conservation and learning programmes.

The V&A is a dynamic and inspiring place to work, and the Head of Patrons will play a meaningful role in helping maintain its reputation, reach and long-term financial sustainability for years to come.

Main Purpose of Job

The Director’s Circle and the Young Patrons’ Circle generate vital unrestricted revenue for the V&A each year.

In return for their support, patrons receive benefits including access to an inspiring programme of special events which reflect the diversity of the museum’s outstanding collections. These range from behind-the-scenes tours and close-up viewings of objects, to visits to studios and private collections in addition to an international Young Patrons’ trip. These events are designed to deepen patrons’ knowledge of, and commitment to, the V&A.

The Head of Patrons is responsible for the delivery of these highly regarded programmes and for growing memberships and donations to meet challenging annual income targets.
