Hethersett Academy
Second in Department (Mathematics)
Salary: MPS/UPS with £4590 TLR
Full time, permanent
Starting February / April 2021

We are looking for an outstanding Second in Mathematics to help our students achieve even more. If you are looking for the opportunity to be part of developing an exciting curriculum and deliver innovative lessons, which enable the highest level of pupil progress and attainment, then we want to hear from you.

The role will involve supporting the Curriculum Lead in the continual development of the Mathematics department. This is likely to include teacher development, pupil engagement, curriculum improvements, extra-curricular activities and resourcing. The successful candidate will be committed to monitoring and closing achievement gaps and raising the attainment of all pupils, including in their reading in and out of school.

We offer opportunities to take leadership of a whole school project alongside your teaching role, support with the NPQSM or other agreed leadership training, and associate membership of the middle leadership team as a professional development opportunity, where appropriate.

We regularly review our practices to ensure that teachers can concentrate on teaching and students on learning. This includes a rigorous behaviour policy where every member of the school community takes responsibility for their actions. We have a contact ratio of less than 80% which gives our teachers the opportunity to plan and mark during the school day.

This key role will give you the opportunity to work with senior leaders and the subject team on curriculum development and play an important part in creating a department that aims to set the standard nationally. You will have a willingness to work with the wider Inspiration Trust team to deliver an exceptional knowledge rich curriculum.

Support and professional development is a priority at Hethersett Academy. We have a strong sense of coaching and collaboration which means that your practice is constantly developed, alongside weekly training sessions that are tailored to you.

We are part of the Inspiration Trust, twice ranked the country’s top comprehensive schools group for secondary progress, and strongly believe in the importance of giving the widest educational opportunities to all young people, regardless of their background. We have strong teaching networks across the Trust, with opportunities to work with a diverse range of schools and partners.

Unfortunately, visits to the school are not possible at this time.  For further information about this role, please contact Dr Woodhouse, Head of Mathematics, at simonwoodhouse@inspirationtrust.org

Closing date for applications: Midday, Monday 7th December 2020

Interview date: w/c 7th December 2020
