“Being the best version of Sprowston that we can be”
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic professional to the role of Assistant SENCo at Sprowston Community Academy.

Sprowston Community Academy is a large, growing secondary school that prides itself on being highly inclusive.  We have an excellent local reputation for supporting SEND young people and their families and as such we have a rising number of children with SEND needs choosing to join our school.  This new  role reflects this growth in student numbers but also our strong desire to be “the best version of Sprowston” that we can be in terms of the  learning experience that we give to all students but particularly SEND and Disadvantaged students.   Over the last few years we have really developed our academic and pastoral provision and we are at a point where we need to add more leadership and management resources to this area as well as capacity to add to impact based interventions,

The successful candidate will have experience of working with SEND young people, preferably with some leadership and management experience.   We would welcome applications from Primary colleagues as well as secondary colleagues as delivery of KS2 Maths and English will be a part of the role.  We also have a Humanities Nurture group in Y7 and an ability/willingness contribute to this would be an advantage,

A key part of the role will be in assisting our SENCO to plan and direct resources in line with EHCPs and to systematically review the impact of this by working in close partnership with students, families, external agencies and other members of our school community,   We are fortunate to have a good infrastructure of SEND staff and the successful post holder will assist the SENCo in leading and managing this team so that provisions are planned, mapped, delivered and their impact assessment.

As a new role, there is a degree of flexibility and we would welcome candidates who have particular strengths and experiences that they could bring to this role.
