We are looking for a Metals Conservator to join the Conservation department for 6 months.
The Metals Conservator will work to support the delivery of the Gilbert Collection’s major touring exhibition ‘Masterpieces in Miniature’ and the Museum’s Public Programme and strategic objectives, particularly towards collections care. The post holder will undertake all aspects of practical, preventive and interventive conservation on metal objects from the Museum’s collections, including assessment and technical examination. The work involves the preparation of objects for display in galleries, exhibitions and loans, maintaining and improving their stability to ensure that they are safe to be displayed. This includes advising on the best handling, storage and safe display of objects.
