Are you passionate about helping TfGM to achieve our Mission of ‘Making Travel Easier in Greater Manchester’?  Do you take pride in understanding complex activities and working with a wide range of stakeholders to bring about positive change and improvement? Are you seeking a role which offers you the opportunity to work in a team where you can see the positive outcome and impact of your work?

TfGM oversees transport in Greater Manchester, delivering and improving transport services, facilities and information to make travel easier for everyone. We deliver high-profile, large-scale transport projects, and it’s our experts who provide the information and analysis to shape transport strategy. This is a busy and exciting time for us: under the devolution agreement and with Greater Manchester at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse, transport will play a vital role in supporting growth and prosperity in the UK’s largest regional economy outside London.

We are seeking an experienced Internal Audit professional to join our Internal Audit team. The team is already an established, well-regarded service and continues to develop and grow. We are entering an exciting period of stronger alignment and engagement with functions across our whole organisation to provide the support that really makes a difference to them, whilst delivering robust challenge and assurance around key risks and the effectiveness and efficiency of controls.

As Principal Auditor, you will deliver a significant element of our internal audit plan reporting to the Audit and Assurance Manager.  You will utilise innovative auditing techniques and skills, develop effective working relationships with stakeholders, have intellectual curiosity to learn about our complex and ever changing environment and be passionate about internal audit; helping to deliver a value added service that provides the necessary assurance to the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee.

In return, we will offer you a breadth of opportunities to allow you to further develop your skills and experience.  You will be at a minimum a part qualified auditor with a relevant qualification (CIA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent). You will have recent experience of delivering internal audit engagements and will thrive in an environment where you will be asked to undertake audits of unique activities and programmes. You will ideally have experience within the transport sector but this is not essential. Experience of auditing programmes (capital, IS, change) would also be beneficial.

The salary for this role is £40,555 - £45,646 per annum. Salary on appointment will be based on your skills and experience.

In return, as well as a competitive salary, we also offer a range of fantastic benefits, such as:

  • Free Rail or Metrolink travel to and from work within the Greater Manchester boundary
  • Free bus travel within Greater Manchester
  • 27 days holiday per annum
  • Access to the local government pension scheme

At TfGM we encourage candidates to discuss flexible working options at any stage of the recruitment process.

We welcome and encourage applications from everyone regardless of age, disability, gender, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation.  We are actively building a diverse workforce and want to create an inclusive environment as we recognise the importance of our workforce reflecting the communities we serve.

If you have the skills and experience we need in this challenging and influential role we would really like to hear from you!
