We are seeking to appoint a part-time Research Fellow to join the V&A Research Institute’s Deciphering Dickens project, the aim of which is to reveal the author's mind at work.

The Project is developing a digital presence for the V&A’s Dickens manuscripts, proofs, printed publications, illustrations and related material. The writer’s methods are being explored via crowd-sourcing and online collaboration with Dickens scholars, fans, students, coders and those working at the cutting edge of digital humanities and interactive design. The post-holder will work with, and support, the Project’s two Co-Leads; the V&A’s Senior Curator, Word and Image Department and the Professor of 19th Century Literature, University of York.

You will be contributing and expanding your knowledge and expertise, whilst also developing your research and publication profile. Projected outputs include some or all of the following:

Research – creating, editing and publishing digital texts, exploring the use of illustration, etc

Publications – articles, book chapters, webpages, blog posts, etc

Conferences, seminars and workshops – organisation, participation

This is a part-time post (0.5 FTE: 18 hours per week) for 12 months.
