The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is looking for a Junior Content Manager
ABOUT THE EUROVISION SPORT DEPARTMENT
The EBU, through its sport department, is the most trusted and well-established media partner for international sport federations and event organizers seeking the widest reach of audiences across Europe and throughout the world. It exploits, manages and develops commercially the acquisition and sales of sports rights deals (for all platforms including radio) and provides high-quality services to its Members.
The EBU has recently launched Eurovision Sport, its first direct-to-consumer sport service that marks a watershed in live sports broadcasting. Thousands of hours of content are set to be streamed in a single digital destination - complementing existing coverage provided by public service media – and showcasing every second of a wide variety of events.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION
As a Junior Content Manager, you will be responsible for producing the content offering for assigned events from start to finish. You will report to the Eurovision Sport Channel Manager and work closely with the team at EurovisionSport.com, the EBU Sport OTT platform.
The position is based in our Madrid office and will involve being available during event hours, which may include weekends.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of your responsibilities:
- Liaising with EBU Sport Servicing team and/or federations and/or rights owner to establish event details (including accessing visual assets, event schedule, running orders, scripts of editorial content,...) and who is the Host Broadcaster (“HB”).
- Liaising with HBs and relevant third parties to access available feeds/services, extra content, stream farm and tech tests
- Booking streaming services with relevant third parties.
- Liaising with Clipping & Tagging Team about what they have to deliver in terms of VODs, metadata and tagging.
- Sourcing, and liaising with, language specific commentary teams to produce additional language offerings as relevant, and as agreed with Channel Manager.
- Ensuring reception of Broadcast Intentions from EBU lead or the rights owner as relevant for up-to-date geo-blocking and re-direction information.
- Liaising with EBU technical partner on all aspects of production process.
- Monitoring content for quality control and finding solutions to problems as they arise.
- Managing archive analysis and updating process before assigning content to archive storage space after each competition is finished.
- Creating a ‘production book’ for each event which will have all the relevant details from above steps outlined clearly including all relevant contact details and an outline of the agreed communication policy for the specific competition - who talks to who, when during the lifespan of the actual competition days.
- Monitoring content and metadata creation for quality control purposes. Both during and after competition. This involves watching output and checking.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
- 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar position for a broadcaster or an OTT channel, ideally in relation to sport events
- High computer literacy and willingness to learn new tools.
- Open-minded, proactive, autonomous, solution oriented and with a strong team spirit.
- Comfortable with pressure and tight deadlines whilst still paying attention to detail.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented professional with demonstrable creative skills who can thrive under tight deadlines.
LANGUAGE - Excellent command of English
EDUCATION - Bachelor’s or Master's Degree, subject: Communication, Sport Media, Rights & Broadcast
