Why British Cycling?

British Cycling is the national governing body for cycling in Britain, leading the sport of cycling and inspiring our diverse communities. For more than two decades British Cycling has given the nation one memorable moment after another and our most successful riders are household names across the world.

Our new strategy, launched in 2021, builds on this legacy to make all of our eight disciplines as strong as they can be, making our sporting pathways more accessible and diverse, providing inclusive life-enhancing experiences for anyone who comes into our community, and giving our growing membership an organisation to be proud of - today and in the future.

About the role

We have an exciting new opportunity for a creative and innovative Social Media Manager who will help us by applying a strategic focus to our social channels, ensuring we’re using them to engage our communities with content they care about. You will burst with ideas that will help bring our strategy of leading the sport and inspiring our communities to life. The ideal candidate will be a true digital native, capable of working with a range of media and storytelling techniques – writing, editing, videography, podcasting – in order to use compelling content to reach and engage a range of audiences.

In this role you will focus your energy on:

  • Nurturing, managing and monitoring our social media channels to engage audiences through creative content and inspiring stories.
  • Planning and delivery of activity on owned and shared platforms, including third party media, commercial and funding partner content.
  • Management of editorial calendars across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube.
  • Leading on community building, responding to comments and queries within an appropriate timeframe.
  • Creating, implementing and reviewing our social media strategy.
  • Embedding activity within audience insight, proactively gained from cross-departmental working.
  • Developing and leading the implementation on an influencer strategy to engage new audiences and showcase our brand through innovative collaborations.

All we need from you is…

  • Proven experience of working in a social media manager role with responsibility for leading a team.
  • An appetite to deliver gold medal standard content and previous experience of developing and managing content plans.
  • Experience using reporting tools such as Falcon and Google Analytics
  • Proven background in social media distribution and conducting data analytics
  • The ability to brief and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A passion for sport and/or cycling
  • Degree level communications / content qualification OR equivalent relevant work experience
  • Ability to act as the authority within British Cycling on content best practice and digital trends providing guidance to colleagues across to business as required.
  • Skills in DSLR video, photography, audio, and editing a bonus
