Tutor of Engineering

Hours: 37 hours per week (1.0 fte)
Salary: Up to £37,661 per annum (subject to experience and qualifications). 

Plus generous benefits. These include: 

•    55 days annual leave per year (including bank holidays and efficiency closures) 
•    Generous Occupational Pension Scheme
•    Payment of 100% of your teacher training course fees if you do not have a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification (Cert Ed/PGCE) – worth up to £6,000 over 2 years 

About the role/person
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who would relish the opportunity to share their knowledge, skills and experience to teach across a range of vocational engineering programmes and apprenticeship standards.

This is a rewarding role working with a broad range of students and apprentices, predominantly across Level 2 & 3 programmes, to develop their mechanical engineering knowledge and practical skills with both manual machining and CNC/CAM/CAD.  Including the development of hand fitting techniques, preparing and using lathes & mills, Computer Numerical Control & Manufacture (Lathe & Mill), and use of 2D / 3D CAD (e.g. AutoCAD, Solidworks).

You may be an experienced FE trainer/tutor, or a newly qualified tutor, but we would certainly encourage applications from those working in industry.  Experience of leading projects/programmes would also be of benefit.

You should have a minimum of HNC/HND in a relevant Engineering discipline, or/and relevant industry standard qualifications and experience. You will ideally possess a recognised teaching qualification and assessor/IQA awards, or be willing to work towards these with funding support from the College. Recent experience within a manufacturing / engineering industry would be a significant advantage.

1.    The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act
