Part-time Evening Cleaner Required

1 to start later September/early October
Scale 1 £10.65 to £10.76 per hour (incl. holiday pay)
Monday to Friday 3.30 – 6pm
39 weeks per year - Term time only plus inset days
Contract: Permanent 41 weeks per year (Term time, plus training days, plus one additional week of 25 hours to be worked during the end of the summer holiday to facilitate a deep clean)
Job Description
Key responsibilities
To work as part of a team, in a busy environment, undertaking general cleaning duties as directed by Premises Officer.
To ensure a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene is retained through the college.
Report to the Premises Officer any defects seen whilst carrying out your duties
Key tasks
Cleaners will be required to use electrical and mechanical equipment, floor polishers etc when necessary and after appropriate training
2. To use step ladders when necessary and with due regard to Health and Safety (only ladder trained personnel)
3. Cleaning staff are required to use cleaning materials approved by the Premises Officer only and in accordance with the manufacturers printed instructions and COSHH regulations
4. To be responsible for the care of all cleaning equipment assigned to them
5. To undertake cleaning duties in any area of the premises as required
6. To undertake other duties not included above but which fall within the nature of the role
Duties will include vacuuming, washroom cleaning, sweeping, mopping, dusting, window cleaning, emptying bins, wiping of furniture and occasional use of electrical cleaning machinery, i.e. buffing machine and carpet cleaner.
Generic Requirements:
1. It is a requirement of all posts within the College that Health and Safety requirements are upheld in the performance of duties
2. Cleaning staff are required to wear protective clothing given to them whilst on duty and additionally should wear footwear suitable for the work being carried out
3. All employees of the College are required to uphold the Equality and Diversity Policy and the College’s Code of Conduct
4. All staff will ensure the safeguarding of young people by the implementation of Child Protection and other safeguarding policies.
