Following the successful launch of The Oakfield, after an extensive refurbishment of the original Grade 2 Victorian property, we are looking for additional enthusiastic, detail minded and charismatic team members.

Our aim is to have one of the most unique dining and event experiences, by having an amazing gastro pub completely surrounded by the busiest Zoo in the UK!

We are looking for an experienced and talented Chef de Partie to join the Oakfield team.

The Role:

  • Provide support in the day to day preparation and production of food for The Oakfield kitchen, a busy, world class gastro pub and function venue. 
  • Train and mentor Demi Chef de Partie and Seasonal Team Members to ensure effective and efficient work practice and delivery of an end customer service.
  • Work collaboratively with the Front of House (FoH) team to ensure seamless delivery and a world class customer service.
  • Support the Senior Chef de Partie in helping to produce food to the highest standards which ensures The Oakfield maintains its world class reputation as a gastro pub and venue destination.
  • Adhere to policies, standard operating procedures and safe working practices including food safety systems. 
  • Follow health and hygiene policies and associated legislation (for example HACCP).
  • Ensure that you, as part of The Oakfield kitchen team, are clean and well presented at all times.
  • Stock control and ordering – under direction from the Senior Chef de Partie, ensure correct stock levels on a day to day basis, place order requests for the Senior Chef de Partie to check, after ‘sign-off’ accept deliveries, ensuring they are correct and rotate stock as required.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous chef experience, preferably in a leading British Gastro Pub
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of food types and production methods
  • Ideally have customer service skills
  • Level 2 Food Safety
  • A ‘can do’ attitude
  • Quick learner
  • Good communication skills
  • Flexible attitude to work

Hours of work are 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis including weekends and bank holidays. As guests primarily visit during the day, this is when you will spend most of your time here, but some evening working will also be required when we are holding private events and functions when the Zoo is closed to the general public.
