Our busy catering operation at South Stack Nature Reserve is looking for catering assistants to join the team to work from 16 hours a week to the end of September. We are looking for individuals who can deliver the highest standards of customer care and assist with the day-to-day running of the café operation, in line with set RSPB procedures and routines.
You will need to be available to work during the day (no evenings). This can be an extremely busy period. We have various shifts available, and the role involves working most weekends and Bank holidays.
What’s the role about?
You will be based at RSPB South Stack Cliffs Visitor Centre in Holyhead, Anglesey. You will need your own transport as it’s a little off the beaten track and there is no public transport.
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and flexible people to work in our busy café and ice cream outlet, making sure visitors enjoy our locally sourced, delicious food and drink. You will need to be able to deliver the highest standards of customer care.
Previous experience of working in catering would be very useful, but if you have a willingness to learn, work hard and roll up your sleeves to help nature we want to hear from you. Basic hygiene training will be provided.
A typical shift will involve taking customer orders, clearing tables, keeping the café clean and tidy, serving customers, and operating the tills.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
Enthusiastic approach to work,
High understanding of the principals of food hygiene.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Problem-solving skills and ability to work on own initiative.
Ability to manage and respond to customer needs and feedback.
Working in target driven/pressured environment.
Working on the till & card machine.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:
Experience of working at a café/bar/pub;
Till operation and payment handling;
Knowledge of food and food service skills;
Computer skills.
The contract is from 16 hours a week and is expected to begin on 27 March 2023 and end on 30th September 2023.
The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term, but this is not guaranteed.
