 ASSISTANT FACULTY LEADER MATHEMATICS

TLR 2B or 2C

Core Purpose:  

  • To raise attainment in mathematics in all year groups.
  • Develop working relationships with all colleagues to ensure outstanding performance in mathematics.
  • Ensure that learning and teaching is rated good or outstanding in every lesson.
  • Track and report on progress of all focus groups in GCSE statistics.
  • Ensure that tracking systems inform curriculum and staffing plans to maximise success.
  • Hold specific subject responsibility for GCSE statistics administration.

 Reporting to: Faculty Leader mathematics and Vice Principal

Responsible for: Teachers of mathematics and other relevant personnel within the academy.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Pupil Progress
  • Drive initiatives to raise attainment so that progress is above national average and attainment is in line with national averages.
  • Ensure interventions are put in place for those students who are underperforming in two consecutive data drops.
  • Liaise with key staff; e.g. SENDCO to support the learning of the cohort.
  • Develop an extensive programme of study to enhance the academy experience of our higher attaining students in all year groups

     2.  Teaching and Learning

  • Work with the Faculty Leader to develop a Scheme of Learning (SOL) for the teaching of GCSE statistics in Year 10.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the SOL and check that team members are following the SOL and are on course to meet their deadlines.
  • Ensure that opportunities to develop British Values, SMSC, communication, reading and writing and numeracy are exploited to the full.
  • Work with the Faculty Leader to develop problem solving frameworks for the use of all year groups.
  • Provide support to teaching and non-teaching staff to enable learning to be outstanding.

 

  1. Leadership and Management
  • With the Faculty Leader, be responsible for the quality of learning and teaching in mathematics.
  • Lead the Faculty in developing the teaching of GCSE statistics including the planning and moderation of coursework.
  • Model outstanding practice.
  • Monitor the work of non-teaching staff as appropriate.
  • Support the Faculty Leader to deliver the mathematics Improvement Plan.
  • Performance Manage members of the Faculty.

 

  1. Behaviour, Accommodation and Safety
  • Support colleagues to maintain a high standard of behaviour within the mathematics faculty and intervene to provide appropriate support where poor behaviour is affecting teaching, learning and the progress of students and liaise with the BEST team as appropriate.
  • Be familiar with the academy Health and Safety policy. Liaising with the academy Health & Safety Manager will ensure that relevant Risk Assessments within the subject area comply with national requirements and are reviewed and updated where necessary on an annual basis.
  • Ensure that the subject area accommodation is a safe, tidy and an attractive working environment for all those who use it.
  • Be familiar with the academy Safeguarding Policy and procedures, advise staff on safeguarding matters and report any concerns to the Senior Designated Lead or Alternate.

The School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document describes duties, which may be required to be undertaken by teachers in the course of their employment.  In addition certain particular duties are reasonably required to be exercised and completed in a satisfactory manner.  It is the contractual duty of the postholder to ensure that his or her professional duties are discharged effectively.
