We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager. The successful applicant will sit within our world-class team of natural and social scientists, who gather the evidence to solve the complex challenges facing nature. By supporting our scientists to effectively deliver a diverse range of projects to tackle the joint climate and nature crises, you will assist RSPB in creating a world that is richer in nature.

What we need from you:

  • Well organised, flexible and adaptable to take on a diverse workload and to motivate and inspire others to get things done.
  • Excellent project management skills, to develop and manage projects yourself whilst supporting colleagues to build project management capability across the organisation.
  • Able to manage and prioritise competing demands.
  • Competent at managing project processes to ensure things go smoothly, risks are managed and to be solutions-focused to help sort problems if they arise.
  • Logical, methodical, analytical and with a good eye for detail.
  • Passionate about creating a world that is richer in nature.

Essential knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Excellent communication skills to develop collaborative working relationships across RSPB teams and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing skills, including the production of periodic reporting using Project Management software.
  • Proven project/programme management skills to plan and manage programmes and projects, manage risks, costs, time and project teams.
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders and funders such as UKRI, government statutory agencies, NGOs and industry partners.
  • Experience of successfully managing budgets.
  • Ability to influence others, communicate effectively, build collaborative relationships and represent the organisation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to solve issues quickly, efficiently and creatively.
  • Ability to advise others on project management methodologies and approach.
  • Great interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with people and to motivate and lead others.
  • Impressive time management and organisational skills.
  • Competent IT user (full Microsoft office suite of tools)

 Desirable qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Project Management Qualification or appropriate training.
  • Experience of using Cora or similar Project / Programme Management software.
  • Experience of working on science projects.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and working in partnerships to achieve shared outcomes.

This is a 12 month fixed-term full-time role for 37.5 hours per week.
