Job Title:                 Welsh Language Officer        

Contract:                 Fixed Term Maternity Cover until April 2025, 0.8 FTE        

Salary:                     £30,510 - £32,588 pro rata

Hours:                     30 hours per week

Location:                 Cardiff    

 

An exciting vacancy is available as a Welsh Language Officer in the Marketing department at Cardiff and Vale College. This post will be based at the City Centre Campus.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the work of the Director of Marketing & Communications to develop and deliver the Welsh Language Strategy and Welsh Language objectives from the ambitious college wide marketing and communications strategy in line with the College’s 3 year rolling strategy
  • Contribute positively and productively to a professional, innovative, responsive and effective in-house Communications team and service for the College and its subsidiaries
  • Work with staff across the College to ensure compliance to the Welsh Language Standards across all areas of the College’s work, enhancing the reputation of the College in local, regional and national communities and with key markets and stakeholders.
  • Support the Director of Marketing & Communications in developing and implementing a strategy and process to develop, manage and measure the college’s Welsh Language compliance and promotion
  • Provide a programme of advice and practical support that enables departments across the college to develop their understanding and ability to take ownership of ensuring Welsh Language compliance across all areas of their work, including:

- Working with teams to develop their communications with all stakeholders and ensure compliance

- Identifying champions within teams across the college to support compliance to the Welsh Language Standards

- Supporting the development of Welsh Language skills in staff through providing and facilitating mentoring, training and support

- Providing advice and guidance on translation work

- Developing resources that support awareness, understanding, compliance and promotion

 

  • To coordinate activities that raises the profile of CAVC as a Welsh Language Champion including organising specific events and activities for internal and external stakeholder groups
  • Ensuring the profile and promotion of Welsh Language through all Marketing and Communications activity including presence at events, undertaking social media engagement, involvement in production of materials.
  • Welsh language skills are essential for this role.
