We are currently recruiting for the post of Assistant Curator in the Ceramics and Glass Section of the Sculpture, Metalwork, Ceramics & Glass Department, as part of the museum’s Assistant Curator Development Programme. The programme is designed to augment Assistant Curator posts by providing a wide range of training and experience of curatorial work needed to help care for our collections. During the 5 year contract, a secondment of six months will be undertaken in a Collections Department other than the Sculpture, Metalwork, Ceramics & Glass Department.
The successful candidate will be educated up to at least degree-level (qualifications must have been confirmed and awarded at the time of the application), with substantive experience of work or volunteering within a museum or other relevant cultural organisation. Excellent grammatical English, computer skills and a good knowledge of a relevant second modern language are essential. Candidates must have a demonstrable interest in British or European ceramics and glass. We also welcome candidates with a general interest in contemporary art and design.
