Recovery Worker

Westminster, London

37.5hrs per week

At St Mungo’s our vision is that everyone has a place to call home and can fulfil their hopes and ambitions.

Our Project in Harrow Road is a male Hostel that is arranged over 3 floors and has a number of services that come together under one roof. There are 21 beds for men with complex needs who have slept rough, 10 beds for Routes Home Service; which reconnects people back to their country of origin, 10 beds on the top floor called The Royal Oak project for men referred by the CMHTs and a new 10 bed Safe Space project on the ground floor for men preparing for detox and rehab.

The Recovery Worker will support clients in their Recovery Journey including drug and alcohol and mental and physical health focusing on mutual aid options, support user-led activities, volunteering and ETE opportunities and personal budgets.

You will help the team to provide assessment and key- working support to clients, whilst promoting joint working across Westminster Drug, Alcohol and Recovery Services and the Joint Homelessness Team. You will also support actions for clients to maintain accommodation; including support with Benefits and move on plans as clients are resettled.

For this post you will have personal experience of homelessness or a sound understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerably housed people and the difficulties they experience in accessing relevant services. You will also have experience of helping vulnerable people and supporting them through a process of change, as well as managing complex and difficult situations in relation to people.

Flexibility is required as you will be working a shift rota.
