We are seeking to appoint a Curator of Textiles to join the Furniture, Textiles and Fashion Department.
The Curator of Textiles will be responsible for non-Asian textiles made before 1800. This role will include all aspects of curatorial work: acquisition, care, research, display and interpretation, as well as liaison with other departments and services, including conservation, photography, storage, display and learning. Proven expertise in an area of textile history for the period 1500 to 1800 is essential.
The successful candidate will have practical experience of collections management, excellent organisational, interpersonal and writing skills and experience in research and publication. In addition, s/he will be comfortable working across decorative arts collections, contributing to the V&A FuturePlan and exhibition projects, and cultivating and cementing good relations with external organisations and communities.
