Job Title: Speech & Language Therapy Assistant

Location: Mirfield (WF14 0DQ)

Hours: 37hrs per week

Salary: £10.20/hour

Hollybank Trust is a charitable organisation with a national reputation for excellence, working with adults and children with complex physical and associated learning disabilities. Based in West Yorkshire, Hollybank trust provides education, residential and nursing care to over 100 adults and children. Work will be across both adult and children’s services.

Overall Aim:

To work within the Speech & Language Therapy team, providing implementation of communication and eating/drinking interventions to children and adults with complex difficulties.

Day-to-day duties:

                 To facilitate speech and language therapy sessions (both group and individual).

                 To carry out office based, computer, and admin tasks as required by the SLT team.

                 To work independently at times, without direct supervision.

                 To provide advice to others regarding communication and eating difficulties with the support and guidance of qualified Speech and Language Therapists.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience required:

The post holder will have excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt their communication to meet the needs of the children, young people, and adults within Hollybank. Knowledge of different communication approaches, and experience facilitating sessions and activities would be advantageous.

The post holder must be confident and competent with computers and be willing to extend these skills with the appropriate training into the programming of high-tech communication aids. As this post holder will be required to work independently within the community houses as well as on the main site, a car driver is highly desirable.
