Housing Advisor - HMP Onley (2 Years fixed-term contract initially)
Rugby, Warwickshire

Salary: £20,661 - £24,174 per annum (pro-rata)

Hours: p/t, 22.5hrs/3 days per week

We are looking for highly motivated and committed individual who has a genuine interest in working with and supporting people, to join our team delivering housing advice and support to offenders in prison and in the community in the South East. The post-holder will provide housing information, advice, guidance and support to assist prisoners at HMP Onley, in gaining suitable accommodation prior to release or to offenders serving community sentences.

Your role will involve liaising with housing providers including hostels and borough housing providing units. You will also liaise with prisoners’ existing support networks; such as Key workers, Social Services, Responsible Officers or Health Services and also with prison agencies. Other responsibilities include delivering basic information around rights and entitlements to housing and benefits for prisoners.

To succeed, you will have experience of working with offenders or people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. You will also have an understanding or working knowledge of resettlement support. The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency team is also required, as is the ability to form effective and professional relationships with external agencies.
