We are looking for a highly motivated and committed individual who has a genuine interest in working with and supporting people, to join our team delivering housing advice and support to offenders in prison and in the community in London and the South East.
As the Housing Support Advisor, you will provide housing information, advice, guidance and support to assist prisoners at HMP Downview and HMP Highdown, in gaining suitable accommodation prior to release.
Your role will involve liaising with housing providers including hostels and borough HPU’s and with prisoners’ existing support networks; such as Key workers, Social Services or Responsible Officers, Health Services and also with prison agencies. Other responsibilities include delivering basic information around rights and entitlements to housing and benefits for prisoners.
To succeed, you will have experience of either working with offenders or people who are homeless/at risk of becoming homeless. You will also have an understanding/working knowledge of housing or resettlement support. The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency team is required, as is the ability to form effective and professional relationships with external agencies.
