The Loans Section of the Exhibitions and Loans Department is looking for a Senior Assistant Registrar to join their team. The post-holder will manage the Museum’s large long-term loans-in programme, short-term loans to gallery displays and the transport of international acquisitions working closely with staff and external stakeholders to initiate and co-ordinate the arrangements required for each project.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Registrars, Exhibitions, or Curatorial background with experience of project management and delivery to a specific deadline, whilst observing best practice and museum procedures;
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skill with ability to assess complex situations and propose innovative solutions to problems, sometimes under pressure.
  • Proven knowledge of collection management procedures relating to due diligence, Government Indemnity Scheme and fine art insurance;
  • Proven knowledge of international art transport, specifically handling UK Customs and import and export procedures in a museum or gallery context.
