If you want to be part of an innovative, forward thinking and outward facing special school; who are genuinely committed to investing in your professional development, then St. Giles could be the school for you! A rare opportunity has arisen to join an exceptional business and administration team within an outstanding Primary Special School!

St Giles School is an outstanding Primary Special School in Derby City. We are a warm, friendly and inclusive school which meets the needs of pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. In March last year, we were awarded 'SEN School of the Year!' as part of the Pearson Shine a Light awards. This is a great achievement for our school community. You can find out more about St. Giles School by visiting our website: www.stgiles.derby.sch.uk.

Governors and Senior Leaders are looking to appoint an Administration and PA to the Executive Headteacher to start as soon as possible on a permanent contract. We are looking for an exceptional candidate who is resilient, organised, can work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, is a team player and has exceptional customer service skills.

Experience in a school environment is an advantage but not essential, as full training will be provided. What is more important is that we find the right person…someone who is helpful, friendly, happy and is willing to go that ‘extra mile’ for pupils with SEND and their families.

In May 2018, St. Giles was designated by the Department for Education (DfE) as a National Support School and the lead school for the Inclusive Teaching School Alliance (iTSA). This means that we play a key role locally and nationally in supporting other schools. This includes providing other schools with Continuing Professional Development and also training up the next generation of support staff, teachers and future leaders.

We are very proud of what we do at St. Giles School and our recent school achievements are a result of a great team effort amongst pupils and their families, governors and staff:

  • Inclusion Quality Mark Flagship Status
  • Family First Quality Award
  • British Council International Schools Award
  • NASEN Learning Support of the Year Award
  • Be Mighty, Be Creative Award
  • ICAN Communication Specialist Accreditation
  • Arts Mark Silver Award

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will work 37 hours per week term-time only, Monday to Thursday 08:30 until 16:30 and 08:30-16:00 on a Friday (this includes a 30 minute unpaid lunch break). However, exact working hours can be negotiated at interview, so long as the ‘core’ business needs of the school can be met.

Given the nature of our provision, it is essential that candidates visit the school. To arrange a visit, please contact the school on 01332 343039.
