Background
Royal Museums Greenwich (RMG) is a collection of diverse historical sites. The sites are the National Maritime Museum; Cutty Sark; the Royal Observatory; and the Queen’s House. You will be joining an established team who have made conservation skills and practise a key part of RMG’s public offer, both at our main visitor sites and at our collections and conservation facility, the Prince Philip Maritime Collections Centre. You will be working to expand this offer, supporting the 2D conservation studios (paper, textiles, paintings, and frames) to develop and deliver the short- and long-term strategic approach to conservation at RMG.
Job Purpose
This role requires an experienced conservation manager with a passion for providing and promoting access to collections and conservation skills. The Senior Manager, 2D Conservation will provide strategic leadership in opening up conservation practice while ensuring our globally significant collections receive the highest professional standards of care, conservation and use.
The Senior Manager, 2D Conservation will support the Head of Collections Services by providing collaborative and effective day-to-day management of work across 2D conservation disciplines. They will be empowered to work with accountable autonomy, and will ensure that communication, regular reporting and transparent decision-making are central to their approach.
Terms and Conditions
Core hours of work will be 36 per week, 9.00am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, with an additional hour to be worked as agreed upon with management.
The post-holder will be subject to additional pre-employment checks in line with Known Consignor criteria.
