Royal Museums Greenwich is one of the UK’s top 10 visitor attractions and has over 200 audio-visual elements across all three sites for visitors to experience rich interactive engagement with the objects on display.  The IT department maintains all these digital components and works closely with other key departments to maintain this high quality resource and to aid the installation of audio-visual aspects for new galleries and exhibitions.  The department also supports the audio-visual elements required for events held throughout the year in the museum.

This is a hugely varied and challenging role.  As part of the IT team you will be at the forefront of developing technologies to deliver museum content to visitors remotely as well as managing and maintaining the digital environment across the museum.  You will be liaising closely with other departments with respect to their digital needs as well as managing the technical aspects of a large number of museum events.

You will be required to support and deliver a variety of audio-visual elements, from touchscreens and projections to interactive functionality provided by microcontrollers.  You will also be working with others in designing and developing innovative ways of delivering content both within the museum and to our remote visitors, using such technologies as AR/VR, live streaming, as well as designing and building electro-mechanical devices.  A strong background in audio-visual support and excellent knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems are desirable as well as experience of networking in an enterprise environment.  You will be a self-starter with a determination to maintain a high standard of delivery of the museum’s audio-visual elements, eager to investigate and resolve sometimes complex issues, and keen to develop your skills and techniques to meet the ever changing needs of this dynamic and genuinely inspiring museum.

In return, the museum is a friendly and enjoyable place to work with supportive and enthusiastic staff at all levels.   This is also an opportunity to work across three museum sites set in this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
