Purpose:
To join the Student Services team at The Garibaldi School and provide a service to other Trust schools in order to support the personal development of students
To support the leadership team to improve the development, behaviour and welfare of students
Specific Responsibilities:
- Support students that may be at risk of exclusion
- To supervise, work with and support students in accessing their work
- To develop and provide appropriate programmes of work for students to undertake
- To be responsible for completing all relevant paperwork and referrals in relation to the role
- To communicate with parents regarding the provision, both pre and post referral
- To develop and disseminate effective programmes of restorative work to reduce reoffending
- To provide a calm, orderly and purposeful environment and climate for learning and reflection
- To develop innovative solutions to reduce reoffending by students
- To develop effective communication and links with counterparts at other Trust schools to offer a joint INTEX/ALTEX provision to reduce exclusions
- To assist with the wider administrative tasks in conjunction with the SWAT team
- To produce reports as necessary for the senior leadership team
- To refer students to agencies as required
- To be aware of duties in relation to safeguarding and maintaining records
- On occasion, to manage any additional INTEX
- To work with individuals or groups of students on targeted intervention around identified areas of need
- To undertake any other reasonable tasks/requests as directed, that are commensurate to the role
General responsibilities:
- Liaising and promoting positive relationships with parents/carers and outside agencies regarding student progress and welfare issues
- Being aware of and promoting the school’s policies and procedures
- Being aware of the confidential issues linked to home/student/teacher/school work and to keep confidences as appropriate
- To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact with during the course of your duties and responsibilities. Your conduct must at all times in in accordance with the school’s policies and procedures.
- To report any causes for concern relating to the welfare and safety of children to the designated person and the Head Teacher or if unavailable the designated safeguarding governor or a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
- To attend safeguarding training as required by the school and maintain your knowledge and understanding of your responsibility for safeguarding children in this school.
- To take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and other persons who may be affected by their activities and where appropriate, safeguarding the health and safety of persons under their control and guidance in accordance with the provision of Health and Safety legislation.
