Monitoring Technician/Surveillance Officer
12-hour shifts including night and weekend working

EDS Group is a leading authority in the design, installation, operation, maintenance and repair of high voltage offshore infrastructure. Mainly operating in the UK and Europe, EDS has been serving renewables for over a decade and impacting every stage of the wind farm lifecycle.

We are looking for 3 Surveillance Officers to join our engineering team on a permanent, full-time basis where your work will matter to millions of people across the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy team that provide 24-hour support to the renewable energy sector. Our clients rely on accurate identification of events to ensure the safety of personnel and risk to infrastructure is minimised. You will work with major renewable generation clients including Vattenfall, GE and EDF as well as major infrastructure stakeholders including the National Grid.

As a Surveillance Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the risk to our client’s electrical network infrastructure is minimised by ensuring that their IT system is monitored, and events are logged. You will work alongside the Control Room Engineer to ensure critical faults are acted on appropriately and ensure a speedy response. You will also carry out emergency switching to disconnect generators from the grid and change voltage set points when requested by the Network System Operator.

You must be confident in core IT including Microsoft Office suite and hold a minimum of 4 GCSE’s including Maths and English Language. To succeed in this role, you will be a self-motivator and be able to work autonomously or as part of a team. It’s essential that you’re a great communicator and able to work quickly and concisely under pressure. You will also need to be flexible with work patterns and responsibilities in order to ensure 24-hour coverage of the control room.
