The role:
We are looking for 3 Subject Access Request (SAR) Officers to join the wider Complaints, FOI and SARs team within Barnet Family Services. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an expanding area of work. The postholders will primarily be required to ensure the Council meets its statutory duty and provides information to people who apply to see records held about them under the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). The postholders will be required to read, review and redact large and complex social care case files, including sensitive information, and make decisions on what can and cannot be disclosed based on legislative requirements and potential case implications. The postholders will also be involved in managing court orders for files and file viewing requests under data sharing agreements with partner agencies.

 

The candidate:

We are ideally seeking a candidate who will have practical experience in Information Governance within a social care setting. Alternatively, the role would be suitable for a newly qualified social worker, a non-practising social worker, or an experienced social work administrator. Transferable administrative skills are welcome but experience of meeting legal compliance requirements around legislation such as the Data Protection Act 2018, Freedom of Information Act 2000, the Childrens Act 2004 and/or Caldicott reviews is desired.

 

You will have the ability to plan and prioritise workloads and work effectively and accurately to meet performance monitoring requirements and statutory deadlines.

 

Skills and experience:

  • You will have excellent attention to detail which is essential for the role.
  • You will have strong communication skills and be able to advise and influence stake holders at all levels.
  • You will have a proven ability to make evidence-based decisions in line with the legislative framework.
  • You will have strong analytical skills and be able to assess the implications of information disclosures.
  • Theoretical or practical experience of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018 is necessary. Knowledge of social work practice is highly advantageous.
