Clinical Manager (Principal Clinical Psychologist)

An exciting career opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, ambitious, and motivated Senior Clinical Psychologist or equivalent to work fulltime permanently as a Clinical Manager in Barnet’s Mental Health Support Teams which sits within the wider Barnet Integrated Clinical Service (a CYP MH mild moderate services within Barnet). You will have the responsibility for delivering schools’ overarching approach to providing mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people. Green Paper for Transforming children and young people’s mental health. This role is funded by the Department of Health & Social Care and reviewed annually.

The MHSTs mainly deliver early intervention, low-intensity and short-term support in educational settings as well as rapid onward access to relevant specialist services by stepping down to 0-19 Early help services; or stepping up to BICS’s primary mental health team or clinical social care team or specialist Tier 3 CAMHS or other relevant services within the borough. There are seniors, higher levels therapists in post who also provide clinical services and supervision for the Trainees and Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs).

The post holder will work closely with Clinical Lead and other clinical managers within BICS, the training organisation for the EMHPs, all the MHST staff and wider BICS staff. The post holder will also work closely with our partners in education to develop and deliver an accessible and understood service. Work closely with 0-19 Early Help services, Social Care, Specialist CAMHS partners in to ensure stepped care is seamless and accessible. Moreover, work closely with key external personnel including, voluntary and non-statutory agencies.

This is a senior clinical management role in which the post holder will have clinical oversight of the MHSTs across Barnet, on behalf of London Borough of Barnet and partners. The role will require supervision and line management of the higher-level therapists, trainee clinical psychologists and assistant psychologist. The role will require confidence in inter-agency working to ensure the MHSTs are fully integrated into the schools. Working closely with the CAMHS Commissioners to ensure seamless integration as part of our local implementation of the THRIVE Model. You will be expected to support the MHST board meetings.  Central to the role is the delivery of service consistent with the CYP-IAPT principles of Accessibility, Awareness, Participation, Accountability and Evidence Based Practice. You will be expected to be able carry out service evaluation and audit projects as part of the role.

We also have links with the London Clinical Psychology and Systemic Training Schemes.
