CNC Machinist Malton
The CNC Machinist activities span the following key areas: Production of machined parts by planning, programming, setting up and operating both manual and CNC machines: Continual Improvement and Safety. you will maintain high quality standards including keeping records, maintain equipment and supplies
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Production
- Plan machining operations by reading works orders, engineering drawings, specifications and other work instructions
- Resolving issues or queries with drawings or other work instructions
- Programming CNC lathes and milling machines
- Proving programmes and other first-off operations
- Setting and operating both manual and CNC machine tools
- Ensuring accurate routing data and other issues are recorded
- Organising and maintaining both tools and the working environment to achieve efficient operations
- Working with the Shift Team Leader to continually push machine operations for the best productivity
Continual Improvement
- Ongoing assessment of machining processes and procedures to identify and implement improvements
- Identifying new working methods, tooling or other systems that may improve efficiency
- Identify Lean and 5S opportunities
Safety
- Knowledge and understanding of hazards, PPE requirements and emergency procedures
- Responsible for house-keeping of allocated work areas
- Promote adherence to JFN’s Health and Safety Policy, for example:
- Reporting near misses and accidents
- Point of work risk assessments and method statements
Quality
- Adherence to JFN’s manufacturing processes and procedures to support consistency and quality of manufacturing work
- Work with Production Engineer(s) and Inspectors to resolve quality issues
- Complete self-inspection and measuring of components prior to final Inspection
Key Skills and Competencies
- A wide range of precision machine shop skills and experience
- A thorough understanding of engineering drawings and dimensional/geometric tolerances
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- General competency in computers, CNC machine programming and computer-aided manufacturing tools
- A commitment to continuous improvement
