Cameron's Cottage is the RSPB's new residential centre for young people embedded within the stunning woodlands at RSPB Franchises Lodge in the New Forest.

What's the role about? 

We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic team leader to co-ordinate and deliver RSPB programmes for connecting young people with nature at Cameron's Cottage, including managing seasonal staff and volunteers.

This role is well suited to applicants with demonstrable people and communication skills, who are organised, self-motivated, with experience of working with a range of youth organisations you will be engaging and inspiring young people about nature.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Good level of general ecological and natural history knowledge.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety and Safeguarding issues with regards to outdoor education.
  • Good knowledge of environmental education delivery methods and an understanding of different teaching and learning styles appropriate to the outdoor setting.
  • Excellent communication skills and a confident educator, able to engage young people of a wide range of ages, abilities and backgrounds.
  • Strong organisational and planning ability to facilitate the delivery of the programme.
  • Confident at networking with a range of youth groups and educational stakeholders.
  • Experience of the delivery of environmental education at a nature reserve or similar.
  • Experience of managing seasonal staff and developing volunteers in environmental educational delivery on nature reserves or similar.
  • Experience of organising and delivering activities for groups of young people on a nature reserve or similar.

This is a Permanent, Full-Time role for 37.5 hours per week. If needed, accommodation may be available on-site for the successful candidate for an initial six months period.
