Blythe House is a Grade 2 listed, large Victorian building in Kensington Olympia. It opened in 1903 as the Post Office Savings Bank and is now a collections storage facility for three national museums: The British Museum, the Science Museum Group and the Victoria and Albert Museum. All three museums are required to vacate the building by 31 March 2023. A joint Museums ‘Decant Delivery Group’ (DDG) has been established to provide shared governance and oversight of the preparation activities, as well as their funding and approval.
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and proactive Estates Manager to drive forward and ensure the coordination and delivery of the necessary Estates and Security related changes and upgrades to enable the decant, over the next 12 months.
The post holder will report to the Head of Estate at the V&A Museum but will work for all three national museums, including the Partnership Security Committee (PSC) and day to day will work closely with the Blythe House Building Manager. The post holder will split their time 50:50 between Estates and Security projects and will advise, consult and update the PSC on all Security system project related activity and the DDG on aspects of Estates Management. Always ensuring compliance with good policy and practice that is in line with the three museums individual Estates and Security Departments.
