What is North Star?

North Star operates across the North East and North Yorkshire.  We build and manage 4,000 units of high quality, affordable housing including specialist supported housing.  We are committed to creating homes and building futures as well as investing in people at every level.

Polaris, also called the “North Star” is a constant in the sky.  It’s more than just a single star; it’s a natural beacon that’s been used to navigate for centuries.  It provides direction to those who are lost and without any other form of conventional navigation.  Stars shine, and we look to them for guidance and inspiration.  Our Organisation is full of North Star’s’.  Bright people who sparkle, achieving great things, and rising stars who shatter expectations, raise the bar and are great to be around.

What is good about working at North Star?

We are growing, leading the way with new approaches and thriving as a business. We were voted No 1 landlord in 2018 and No 2 in 2019 (24Housing) and were the first Housing Association in England to attain Investors in People Platinum standard, which we hold until 2023.

Last year we undertook our first Institute of Customer Service (ICS) benchmarking survey, customers told us we deliver an outstanding experience.  Customers scored North Star 82.9/100, exceeding the UKCSI with specific praise for our reputation, ethics, experience, and competence of staff.

We are proud of what we have achieved, as its hard work. We do it because it makes North Star strong and ensures that we can do the very best for and with our customers. Our approach keeps North Star strong and helps us to remain independent.

We only employ exceptional people and invest significantly in the development of everyone.  People are at the centre of the business, supported by a culture of relational leadership where everyone has a strong voice and influence.

What are we looking for?

After our success in securing vital funding through the recent Homes England Rough Sleeper Accommodation Programme, we are looking for someone special to join us to deliver a comprehensive housing and support service.  You may already be an experienced housing support worker or someone who is ready for the next step in their career.  You will have experience of social housing and a drive to deliver comprehensive housing management and support to people with multiple complex needs and you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  You will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and you will always deliver exceptional performance.  You will have a track record in developing great relationships that benefit the business.

In return we will invest in your development and support you to grow and learn.  You will also get great opportunities to be innovative and contribute to the overall running of the business.

This post is subject to a suitable Disclosure and Barring Service certification (DBS)

We will invest in you and support you to grow and learn.  You will also get great opportunities to influence and drive change and contribute to the overall running of the business.
