ABOUT HMP LONG LARTIN

HMP Long Lartin is a Category A High Security dispersal prison and is part of the Long Term and High Security directorate housing some of the most serious offenders in the prison system that are drawn from all areas of the UK and includes some Foreign Nationals. These prisoners are in the early stages of their sentence and are likely to progress into other establishments prior to release. The majority of the curriculum is therefore focused on helping prisoners to develop English, maths, and personal skills to enable them to benefit from continued training, education and work whilst still in custody.

The education team in HMP Long Lartin are highly motivated and we take pride in our learner’s success. We work hard to support learners, encourage engagement from reluctant prisoners and aim to offer potential employment opportunities through relevant and up-to-date qualifications. We are a flexible and adaptable team who work in partnership with our prison colleagues to ensure the journey through education is as safe and enjoyable as possible.
