Introduction

Cairngorms Connect is the UK’s biggest habitat restoration project. It's a partnership of neighbouring land managers, committed to a bold and ambitious 200-year vision to enhance habitats, species, and ecological processes across a vast area in the Scottish Highlands. The partnership is comprised of 4 organisations who, collectively, manage 600km2 of contiguous land: WildLand Limited, Forestry and Land Scotland, NatureScot, and RSPB Scotland

What's the role about? 
If successful you will lead the promotion of Cairngorms Connect, building understanding and value around the restoration work and associated positive impacts arising from the project. Responsibilities include: celebrating the extraordinary habitats and wildlife of the project area, and our restoration work to benefit them; growing a vibrant presence in the media and online; managing a motivated and talented team; creating and promoting opportunities for people to get involved with our work; and ensuring that our engagement programme facilitates high quality, inclusive, diverse involvement opportunities for communities of place and interest 


Essential skills, knowledge and experience: 

  • Demonstrable experience of delivering high-quality external and internal communications, preferably in the context of a partnership
  • Demonstrable experience of building profile and establishing brand identity
  • Able to demonstrate experience in growing an active, ambitious, and engaging online presence.
  • Experience of working with traditional media.
  • Experience of working in a large, diverse organisation in the public, private, or third sectors
  • Ability to tailor content to a wide variety of audiences
  • Experience of delivering engagement events for a range of target audiences, both nationally and within local communities
  • Experience of delivering thoughtful communications and engagement that embraces and acknowledges equality, diversity and inclusion
  • People management and team development experience
  • Experience of working collaboratively with communities of place and communities of interest

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

Knowledge of land management systems in the Highlands

Ability to communicate nuance in situations that are not clear cut e.g., co-existence with wildlife and conservation management in local communities

Reputational risk management and mitigation, including a positive approach to managing controversial issues



This is a Permanent Full-Time role for 37.5 hours per week.
